The DEEP (Debate Education for Effective Participation) project reached its culmination with The Deliberation Day event that showcased the remarkable efforts and achievements of participating students. Held as the final activity within the DEEP framework, the event provided a platform for students from debating clubs to present the results of their research, stakeholder analysis, and proposed solutions developed through their club work.
Focusing on the theme of education quality, students identified key issues within their schools or at the national level and proposed innovative solutions to enhance the teaching process, modernize learning techniques, and integrate digital tools into education. Notably, one club envisioned creating a student corner within the school premises, while another club challenged the graduation scoring system, demonstrating a diverse range of perspectives and ideas.
The presentations delivered by the debating club students were not only impressive but also highlighted their exceptional presentation and argumentation skills. Their ability to effectively communicate ideas and engage the audience underscored their dedication and preparation throughout the project. All students teams presented in front of 48 participants, from high schools and local government institutions.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the professors who mentored the students, providing invaluable guidance and support throughout their journey. Their commitment to nurturing student learning opportunities has been instrumental in the success of the project.
As the deliberation concluded, it was agreed that students would submit their proposals, along with budget details, to the City of Tirana for consideration and support. Partner organizations will closely monitor the implementation and realization of student proposals, ensuring their voices are heard and acted upon.
The overarching goal of the DEEP project was to cultivate democratic competences and civic awareness among young people, involving them in participatory decision-making models. We are confident that through their participation in the project, students have developed essential skills, awareness, and interest in civic action, contributing to positive social changes and fostering a habit of democratic participation.
Let's continue to empower our youth and build a more participatory and inclusive society together!
