The first regional high school debate for this year took place in Tirana on April 1 as part of the Debating Economics program by Junior Achievement of Albania.
A total of 18 secondary schools from the region participated in the event, with around 54 students, who debated with each other in three debate sessions. The participants represented their schools' debate clubs from the cities of Tirana, Kavaja, Shijak, Dibra, Kuçova, Lezha, Fier, Përmet, Korça and Kukës. The debate sessions were intense, with students demonstrating their research skills and public speaking.
Judges evaluated the students based on their arguments, teamwork and presentation. The Regional Debate was aimed at promoting and increasing the debating capacities of participants in high school debating clubs as part of the JAA Debating Economics Program.
During the activity, students had the opportunity to put into practice all the skills acquired during the training and debating sessions within their club with their peers from other schools. After regional debate, debate clubs will be ranked to identify qualified teams that will advance to the National Debate Competition.
