March 2024 Marks the Initiation of JAA Debate Competitions with Judge Reskilling Training

We are excited to announce that March 2024 marks the initiation of the JAA Debate Competitions. This year’s competitions promise to be more engaging and impactful, beginning with the essential reskilling of our judges. The first training session for judges took place on March 15-16, 2024.

The training sessions focused on equipping our judges with the necessary skills and knowledge to fairly and effectively evaluate the participants for the World School Debate Format. The judges include both experienced JAA alumni who have previously served in these capacity and new alumni who participated beforehand as shadow judges. This blend of experienced and new judges ensures a comprehensive and balanced evaluation process for the competitions.

During the two-day training, judges were introduced to the latest debate formats and evaluation criteria, ensuring they are well-prepared to assess the debates accurately and impartially. The sessions covered key areas such as critical thinking, argument analysis, and effective feedback, which are essential for maintaining the high standards of our debate competitions.

This initial training session marks the beginning of a series of activities aimed at fostering a culture of critical thinking and public speaking among students. By reskilling our judges, we ensure that the competitions are not only fair but also enriching and educational for all participants.

We are grateful to all the judges who participated in the training and to our expert trainers for their invaluable contributions. Their dedication and commitment are crucial to the success of the JAA Debate Competitions.

We look forward to an exciting season of debates and the continued growth of our students' skills and confidence!
